The Valls Popular Library was the first opened by the Commonwealth of Catalonia, in 1918, and is located at the top of Passeig dels Caputxins. This building, the work of the architect Lluís Planas, fully responds to the noucentista ideology that defines libraries as temples of culture. The simplicity and sobriety of the lines of this building manage to give the sense of solemnity and grandeur proposed by Noucentism architecture.
