The Magrinyà Calaf cava is the heritage of a family of winegrowers with more than two hundred years of experience. According to the oldest deed preserved, dated 1810, the Vidales family has been dedicated to the cultivation of vines since the beginning of the 19th century. During all these years, the family reconciles the cultivation of the vine with the rest of the traditional crops and it is not until the middle of the 20th century when the vine becomes the main element.

Cava was born with the enthusiasm of winegrower Francesc Calaf Vidales to make his own sparkling wines. Taking advantage of a small cellar in the manor house, he produced the first bottles of cava almost 30 years ago, in haste and without ornaments. The initial success and the good reception lead to the creation of the Magrinyà Calaf family winery, thus becoming one of the oldest wineries in the Alt Camp.

Thanks to the rigor and excellence exercised throughout all these years, at present, the Caves are fully consolidated.

WINE TOURISM

Located in the municipality of Nulles, in the southern area of ​​the Alt Camp, the Magrinyà Calaf quarries enjoy a dry Mediterranean landscape that is almost unique in all of Catalonia. A rural territory clothed in the legacy of nature which, escaping the usual disorder of the most industrial areas, has been able to age with elegance and sanity. The visitor will see with great satisfaction how the stands of Macabeu, Chardonnay or Merlot, among other varietals, intertwine to sew this infinite amalgam of greenish tones, a chromatic scale only altered by the evolution of the year itself. With 80% of the territory dedicated to wine production, the cultivation of hazelnuts, almonds and olives complement and make up this natural and agricultural landscape.
