The Alcover Museum is located in the historic building of Ca Batistó (17th century). Completely refurbished and modernized, the facility contains two interesting exhibitions, one on marine fossils, and the other, on the bourgeois lifestyle.
The permanent exhibition The Mountains of Prades, 240 million years ago. The Fossils of Alcover and Mont-ral display our valuable palaeontological legacy, a one-of-a-kind collection of fossil specimens, unique in the world with regard to marine fauna from the Triassic period. Like there is the Alcoveria brevis, a specimen for the first discovered in the mountains of Alcover. Family visits and school workshops make up the main tenets of our educational program.
Today the Ca Batistó manor house, former home of the museum, is now completely renovated and restored. On the first floor there is a suggestive and interactive exhibition on display under the title of Bourgeois Modernity and Literary Modernisme, a tour of the private lives of a bourgeois family from the late 19th century to the early 20th century and a window onto the cultural and artistic lifestyle of that time.
